Today, the Hub Director of Kuvuka Hub participated in an External Stakeholders Consultative Workshop, bringing together stakeholders to exchange perspectives, identify emerging skills and industry needs, and explore opportunities for stronger collaboration between education, training institutions, industry, employers, and the wider community.

The workshop provided valuable insights into ICT education, skills development, Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET), digital entrepreneurship, innovation, and the alignment of education and training with labour-market requirements.

The importance of continuously reviewing and strengthening Computer Science and IT curricula to ensure an appropriate balance between technical competencies, cybersecurity, digital technologies, entrepreneurship, and emerging industry requirements.

Strengthening Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) as a mechanism for bridging the gap between educational outcomes and actual labour-market demands, with greater emphasis on practical, measurable, and industry-relevant competencies.

The workshop highlighted opportunities for collaboration among educational institutions, industry, research organisations, and innovation hubs in professional training, applied research, consultancy, technology innovation, and skills development.

8. Policy and Curriculum Relevance

The importance of considering national policies, the CBET philosophy, competency levels, assessment approaches, industry standards, and labour-market requirements when developing or reviewing education and training programmes.
